In the last 25 years Bergamo Film Meeting has reached a wide, more and more
enthusiastically active audience. It has promoted and presented 1900 films,
many emerging directors as well as films from lesser known regions of the
world. It has organised important retrospective exhibitions, restored classics,
and published 79 books (mainly film catalogues and critical studies).
Bergamo Film Meeting does not just organise the March festival. In cooperation
with other institutions, it keeps on working the whole year to promote cinema
culture and launch some of the films presented during the Festival on other
cultural circuits, such as film clubs and societies, cinema culture associations,
public administration councils, schools, universities, cultural institutes
and foundations, etc. All this entails a widespread network, covering the
whole national territory. 20.000 people usually attend the March festival,
but more than 40.000 take part in the annual activities sponsored and organised
by Bergamo Film Meeting.
Bergamo Film Meeting has been supporting social initiatives as well as cultural
and artistic innovation for 25 years. If you want to take part in
our annual festival, if you love today’s quality cinema and classic
films, if you are curious about new directors and lesser known cinema, you
can support us in several ways: you can buy our festival tickets or contribute
to finance some of our activities. This might be a way of helping
us not only to keep on working, but also to set out for our future, and to
renew ourselves.
