This
section hosts the works of two young film-makers from Bergamo. The films are
very different, based as they are on geographically and “dramatically”
distant objects, but both concern real, extremely contemporary issues. Andrea
Zambelli’s Mercancìa (Merchandise) is the result of
a journey to Colombia and concerns the production process of coca paste in
Magdalena Medio, telling the difficulties and harsh life conditions of Colombian
farmers. The film highlights their necessity to grow coca leaves in order
to survive, underlining their non-involvement in the processes endorsing drug
abuse. The director says: “I met farmers who have been growing coca
for fifteen years without ever tasting the final product, and think that drug
abuse is a vice of advanced societies”.
Beppe De Caro’s Daddy – O! - A tutto Rock’n’roll
(Daddy – Oh! Let’s rock’n’roll) is an affectionate
declaration of love to a kind of music that, according to the author, has
been (and still is) a guideline for life. As they find themselves on a 1953
Bel Air Chevrolet, on a lifeboat, at the barber’s as well as at the
undertaker’s, two friends and rock’n’roll experts tell us
the story of the most loaded music of all times, and of those who made it.
Artists, fans, musicians and lovers, all share a common voice: Rock’n’roll
is here to stay!
