First Prize: Toril by Laurent Teyssier

The winning film of the Exhibition Competition is Toril by Laurent Teyssier. El charro de Toluquilla (The Charro of Toluquilla) by José Villalobos Romero and Als Paul über das Meer kam (When Paul Came over the Sea) by Jakob Preuss win ex aequo the prize for best documentary.

The winner gets the First Prize Bergamo Film Meeting - Banca Popolare di Bergamo, consisting in 5.000 euros, intended to be a concrete help to productions that invest in young authors, in independent and quality cinema.

The Best Documentary Cgil Bergamo Prize - Close Up Section, worth 2.000 euros and awarded by the audience, intends to promote independent film productions.

During 9 days, Bergamo Film Meeting - 35th edition has offered the Italian premiere of 7 feature films in the EXHIBITION COMPETITION; 14 documentaries in the CLOSE UP section competition; the retrospective on Czech master MILOŠ FORMAN together with the exhibition Theodor Pištěk’s Oscar-winning costumes – Rebellion and pageantry in Miloš Forman’s movies, mounted at Teatro Donizetti; and also a homage to screenwriter JEAN-CLAUDE CARRIÈRE; EUROPE, NOW!, a journey into new contemporary European cinema with the works of Thanos Anastopoulos (Greece), Dominique Cabrera (France) and Dagur Kári (Iceland); the review of diploma films from the European schools of cinema participating in CILECT; animation cinema with Estonian director CHINTIS LUNDGREN; the section about contemporary art with the video-installation by FRANCO VACCARI Esposizione in tempo reale n. 45 (Exposition in real time no.45) at Porta Sant'Agostino; the passing of the baton to BERGAMO JAZZ; the cult movies of GAMeCINEMA, together with previews, sci-fi-marathon, KINO CLUB addressed to the young audience and the DAILY STRIP, a rendezvous with five of the best illustrators of Italian comics: Cristina Portolano, Francesco Guarnaccia, Martoz, Leo Ortolani and Davide Toffolo and then… meetings with the authors, exhibitions, masterclasses, workshops, cocktails and many surprises.    

The 36th edition of Bergamo Film Meeting will take place from March 10 to 18, 2018.
