A Shot in the Dark I

A selection of films, meetings and music, in addition to the awarding of the second Cavaliere Giallo Award for best screenplay of a noir/thriller short film, created to promote the Georges Simenon Fund, which was established in 2003 thanks to the donation of director and writer Gianni Da Campo (1943-2014), one of the greatest collectors of the Belgian author’s works.

Along with the hilarious A Shot in the Dark (1964) by Blake Edwards, the selection will include cult movies, previews and restored versions of classic films, which has always been a hallmark of Bergamo Film Meeting.
On Friday 22 and Saturday 23, A Shot in the Dark will be complemented by the national convention of studies promoted annually by the FIC – Federazione Italiana Cineforum, The noir genre in cinema, literature and comics, offering critical insights on genre cinema and literature. Nine speakers will take part, representative of film criticism and academia.

Nicola Salerno’s Fifty Fifty wins the 2017 Cavaliere Giallo Award for best screenplay of the noir genre.
The winner of the first edition of the Cavaliere Giallo Award for best short film screenplay of the noir genre was announced at the Auditorium in Piazza Libertà, Bergamo. The award is promoted by Bergamo Film Meeting Onlus in collaboration with the Cavaliere Giallo association.
Two special mentions by the jury went to the screenplay Follia Tzatziki (Tzatziki Craze) by Francesco Bozzi, for “the lively rendering of contemporary characters, with a surreal ending that remains open to an array of interpretations”, and to L’uomo nell’acquario (Man in the Aquarium) by Massimo Vavassori and Nicola Lucchi, “A classic story where deep psychological character analysis supports a tale of bitter redemption”.
The Georges Simenon Fund was established in 2003 thanks to a substantial donation that Gianni Da Campo, film director and scholar, made to Bergamo Film Meeting, consisting in the entire archive in his possession, one of the most important in Europe.
