During a very harsh winter, the surface of the river becomes an expanse of ice. Nearby live two cousins, one of whom seems to be immersed in a constant half-sleep. As the days pass, the two are overwhelmed by a cold and pungent wind, and their relationship becomes increasingly glacial, reaching a dangerous limit.
