On her return from holiday, Reggie discovers that her husband has been murdered. A charming man she met on holiday, Peter, offers her help. The deceased’s friends begin to distress her with unorthodox demands for money and even Peter now seems less friendly than he had given them credit for. In the interweaving of thriller and sparkling comedy, the master Donen refers to is obviously Hitchcock. The result on both sides is successful and decidedly enjoyable, also supported by an excellent cast, in which Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn stand alongside Matthau, Coburn and George Kennedy.
