Blue Moon follows the psychological journey of Irina to her dehumanizing process, that involves family, sex and a little bit of blood…An ambiguous sexual experience with an artist will spur her intention to fight the violence in her family. Using solely her brain and her feminine instincts Irina drives all the aggressors in her life into the depth of a subdued psychological game.

Notes

Alina Grigore –– (Bucharest, 1984) studied acting and directing at the UANTC in Bucharest. Her films as an actress include titles such as Aurora (Cristi Puiu, 2010), Best Intentions (Din dragoste cu cele mai bune intentii, Adrian Sitaru, 2011) and Illegitimate (Ilegitim, Adrian Sitaru, 2016), for which she also co-wrote the screenplay. Blue Moon is her first feature film.

«I always knew I had to tell the story about the girls in my community but gathering the strength to express my inner feelings through images was rather difficult […] The film does not provide solutions for the vicious circle of aggression. I think the film is more of a discourse of revenge, of decompression. The film does not touch at all on the possibility of escaping the status of the victim but rather seeks to determine a kind of experience of her emotions.»
