A musical homage to Georgian culture, a brief account of rural life with the performance of some of the ancient Georgian folk melodies that have managed to cross the centuries. Under the guise of documenting for preservation purposes the various forms of Georgian religious song (a distinct type of sonorous psalmody passed down from generation to generation), what Otar Iosseliani actually captures is a snapshot of a not-so-distant past that coexists with the world as we know it.
