After the death of his mother, Nikolas, a 30-year-old boy with autism, decides to take a trip to his hometown. He wants to complete a mission, reach the high seas in two days. There he will meet Ane, his only childhood friend who is willing to help. However, the barriers that Niko encounters to communicate will not make it easy for him. Iker Elorrieta — (Bilbao, Spain, 1977) studied Film Direction at the Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. He has worked as camera operator on several TV and commercial projects, as a documentary editor and as a digital composer on animation feature films.
In 2012, he founded his production company Pantoma Films, where he has directed and produced countless commercials for a variety of different brands as well as more personal documentary projects.
Since 2016, he has combined his work directing commercials and other collaborations with the development of various scripts. In 2018 he started working on the production of his first fiction feature film The Radio Amateur.
«I always thought that what you don’t see on the screen was very important. I wanted to understand where the characters came from and what had happened in their lives to make them feel the way they feel. The title of the film itself, The Radio Amateur, suggests someone locked in a room surrounded by radio frequency devices as a means to communicate with the world. The film starts at the moment in which the routine and the curious connection with the world of the main character are broken, he is forced to abandon that refuge and face the real world, a world that does not know, understand or accept him, a world that excludes him in a cruel way. I felt that it was from there that I had to start working.»
