At the beginning of World War II, the Perel Jewish family flees from Germany to Poland to escape Nazi persecution. When the conflict between Germany and the USSR breaks out, the father sends his two youngest sons, Isaak and Salomon, to the USSR, but they become separated while crossing a river.
