The year is 1947. Claude Autant-Lara’s The Devil in the Body is playing at the cinema, which the protagonist’s partner would like to go and see with him. But in that very year, the normal routine of French police inspector Roger Borniche suddenly changes when the dangerous criminal Emile Buisson escapes from prison. Once out, he continues to steal and kill. His superior instructs him to capture him at any cost. The operation is complex and becomes even more complicated when the innkeeper who passes on the news to Berniche is killed.
