Ex-Chiesa di Sant’Agostino – Bergamo

The celebrated guitarist live score, in Italian premiere, Luis Buñuel‘s masterpiece.

Born in Syracuse (New York, Usa) in 1952, he has collaborated with musicians such as John Cale, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Chris Cornell and Nick Cave, boasting an extraordinary career whose highlights include his time with Captain Beefheart, Jeff Buckley (he was the author of the songs Grace and Mojo Pin) and with his band Gods and Monsters. A pioneer of the genre, he has a long history of composing soundtracks and live accompaniment for films, both silent and sound.

After a theater premiere, a group of upper-middle class people is invited to dinner at a friends’ villa. Late in the evening, while listening to a pianist, they notice that the servants have inexplicably eclipsed. They try to leave the villa but something holds them back. And, as in the day of the Apocalypse, they begin to weep over their fate, prisoners of themselves. The situation becomes increasingly tense, the dialogues increasingly bitter and violent, until the “carnal sacrifice” of a young girl. Only then will they believe that they have freed themselves from the nightmare.
