Discharged dishonorably from the army, Thomas returns to Jerichow, a small and desolate town near the Baltic Sea. He is broke, but finds work as a driver for Ali, a friendly Turkish businessman who runs and supplies a chain of takeaways. Ali is married to Laura, a beautiful woman with a troubled past, but their marriage doesn’t seem very happy, and Ali is very jealous, sometimes violent. Slowly, secretly, Thomas and Laura begin an affair.
