La mitad de Óscar
Directed by Manuel Martín CuencaItalian title: La mitad de Óscar
Spain / 2010 / 89'

Óscar, thirty-year-old, is a security guard at a semi-abandoned salt pan. Everyday he puts on his uniform and goes to work, sitting and looking at what remains of the mounds of salt. Nothing really happens in Óscar’s life. But one day his routine falls apart. Óscar arrives at the retirement home to see his grandfather but finds he’s been taken to hospital. The director says she told it to his sister, he hasn’t heard from her in two years. Two days later, María turns up in Almería with her boyfriend, Jean, a French man Óscar has never heard of. The relationship between the siblings seems tense. Something happened in the past might have left its mark.
