Vincent works as a welder in a factory in the city and lives an hour and a half away in a suffocating small town where the only diversion is talking about other people’s affairs. His mother, who was once a dancer and a singer, now lives off her memories. Tired of everything, Vincent one day visits his father and decides to do the same thing his father once did. He takes the train and ends up in Venice, where his friend Carlo, also a welder, is living the same life. Vincent takes a ferry and goes elsewhere. Eight months later, he returns to his town, where everything has remained the same, and resumes his usual life.
