Wiseman-as-narrator describes how the Gallery works, through a game of mirrors between film and painting. The film investigates with grace and sobriety one of the world’s leading cultural institutions, lingering on the staff (and on staff meetings, too), on the audience moving from room to room, on workshop activities, restoration and set-up operations, and of course on the displayed works.
