Dina and Michael are in their early thirties. He is a doctor, she is an actress. They are happy together until Michael thinks about breaking up. She says: «Nope» («Nö»). In thirteen episodes, we then accompany our two heroes while they maneuver through life over the years and try to not lose sight of their love. Nö is a film about love, how to find love and our struggles to live with love. It’s a film about a generation in their thirties, who have everything, who have tried everything but who often still fail silently.

Presentation with the director

Dietrich Brüggemann – (Monaco di Baviera, Germania, 1976) was born in Munich, raised in Germany and South Africa, and attended the Babelsberg Film School. Some of his works premiered at Berlinale. With Kreuzweg, a meditation on fundamentalist religion in only 14 fixed-angle camera setups, was selected for Berlinale competition 2014 and won Silver Bear for best screenwriting. Then, he directed the feature movie Heil  and he also directed numerous music videos, he sings in a band and plays piano to silent films with the artists collective 43CHARACTERS.

«Cinema and art, and literature, and everything, always focus on existential issues. Birth and death are obviously interesting, but the one vital decision you make in your life is about who you are going to start a family with. Cinema has done thousands of dances around that subject, and many people before me have pointed out that the real story starts after the happy ending. Hollywood is all about getting people together, but what happens later? Ingmar Bergman asked that question, so my film is just one more entry in that little subgenre.»
