Picnic at Hanging Rock

On the feast of Valentine’s Day, 14 February 1900, the pupils of the aristocratic Appleyard boarding school go on an outing to the foot of the geologically interesting and mysteriously shaped Hanging Rock group. With the permission of Miss Craw, in charge of the group, four girls get to climb among the rocks to better examine them. One, plump and unwell, returns: Miss Craw, alarmed at the delay, pursues the missing girls. For several days, the police, with the aid of volunteers and dogs, search for the three lost girls and the teacher. After a week, when everyone has given up and attributed the disappearance to various causes, Irma is found still alive. But once she has recovered, she knows nothing about the circumstances of her companions.
