Four of the most important events of the Festival’s 35th edition will also be hosted for the first time in Brescia, at the Nuovo Eden cinema, heralding a new collaboration with Fondazione Brescia Musei and Libera Accademia di Belle Arti – Laba.
The four events will offer an overview on the Europe, Now! section, highlighting the brilliance and vitality of the new European cinema: the works of three up and coming filmmakers – Thanos Anastopoulos (Greece), Dominique Cabrera (France), Dagur Kári (Iceland) – to discover and rediscover.
The first event in Brescia will include the Greek director Thanos Anastopoulos holding a masterclass open to the public on Friday March 17 (2:30 PM – 5:00 PM) at the Laba, followed by a screening of his documentary – which he co-directed with Davide Del Degan – The Last Resort, at Cinema Nuovo Eden (9:00 PM).
Also at Cinema Nuovo Eden, on Wednesday March 22 (9:00 PM) there will be a screening of Dominique Cabrera’s Corniche Kennedy, followed by Dagur Kári’s Fúsi (Virgin Mountain) on Friday March 24 (9:00 PM).

The adventures of a group of kids who spend the summer near Marseille diving from the Corniche Kennedy, a road that runs along the sea; a policewoman tasked to oversee that part of the coast observes them with her binoculars. The lust for life typical of youth in a cheerful, almost Camus-esque, film full of tenderness.

Fúsi (Virgin Mountain) by Dagur Kári, screening
Iceland, Denmark 2015, 94′, ‘, col., o.v. sub. it.
43-years-old Fúsi still lives with his mother. Fat, clumsy, quiet and a bit of a recluse, Fúsi is forced to step out of his comfort zone and into the dark when a young woman with a messed-up life and an 8-years-old daughter come unexpectedly into his life. A delicate film, very smoothly built around the nuances of its main character.
