Toril by Laurent Teyssier(France, 2016, 83”)
Sunday June 18, 7.30PM | Sala 1 Arcobaleno Film Center – Viale Tunisia, 11, 20124 Milan
In Southern France countryside, Philippe’s father, a farmer crushed by debt, attempts suicide. Philippe, a small marijuana trafficker who has already paid some debts with justice, decides to try to save the land and his father’s warehouse and maybe regain his family’s esteem. To do so, he has to find the money, a lot and at once. Thus he turns to the biggest drug trafficker of the region, a ruthless caïd, proposing him a deal: one shot, one delivery destined to clear his father’s debts. Philippe soon becomes involved in a network from which it will be very difficult to get out. In the background, the stifling summer heat, the dust of the earth burned from the sun, the bulls, the chirping of cicadas and the desire to start again.
Toril: space adjacent to the arena, where they keep the bulls before the bullfight.
