The project for the promotion of the Georges Simenon Fund in the name of Gianni Da Campo is once again active: new acquisitions, a new web page, an updated edition of the book Georges Simenon… Mon Petit Cinéma in digital format and a special event with the screening of the film.
The evening of September 30, with the screening of the film by Mathieu Amalric La chambre bleu, is an opportunity to share with the audience an overview of the project, which, in addition to the enhancement of the archive, includes the organization of an event dedicated to the noir genre in its most diverse iterations (thriller, spy story, detective story, etc.). The archive itself is a real treasure trove of unreleased and cult films that are often unknown or long absent from the big screen.
La chambre bleu is an example: a multi-awarded film both at the Cannes Film Festival and the Césars which was never distributed in Italy, despite the presence of a major cast. Based on the eponymous novel by Georges Simenon, it preserves its narrative structure and dramatic tension, showcasing Mathieu Amalric’s great talent as a director and actor and the outstanding cast, which includes an intriguing and sensual Stéphanie Cléau. A sentimental noir, the story of an amour fou consumed in a hotel room, where Julien, the male protagonist, is accused and convicted for murder.
