THE ANIMATED POETRY OF VLADIMIR LESCHIOV
The valuable collaboration with Bergamo Film Meeting continues for the second year in the name of animation cinema, thanks to which Corti da Sogni can offer its audience the works of one of the most important and recognized Latvian representatives of the genre, Vladimir Leschiov (Leščiov), born in 1970 in Daugavpils.
An author who stands out for his strong resistance to computer animation and his great technical mastery. His cinema is a perfect balance between traditional narrative and poetic abstraction. Through his career he experimented with various techniques: from illustration, in “The Letter” (2002) to the coloured pencils that give life to the flickering images of “Bezmiegs” (“Insomnia”, 2004), to the oil painting evoked in “Grandad’s Honey ”(2002) up to the recent“ Lietus dienas ”(“ Rainy Days ”, 2014) in which he used black tea pigments on paper. He has participated and won awards at the most important international festivals, such as Annecy, Ottawa, Berlin, Zagreb and Hiroshima. In 2007 he founded the Lunohod animation studio, based in Riga.
