

Jasmila Žbanić, one of the protagonists of the Europe, Now! section of the 34th edition of Bergamo Film Meeting , will meet the audience at the Bookshop in Piazza della Libertà.
The director will attend Bergamo Film Meeting from March 8 to 11.
After several short films and documentaries which have earned many awards and sparked interest in the international festival circuit, in 2006 Jasmila Žbanić (Sarajevo, 1974) debuted with the feature film Esma’s Secret (Grbavica) winner of the Golden Bear in Berlin, a transgenerational “herstory” of war and its devastating emotional consequences. On the Path (Na putu, 2010) is her second feature film, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival competition; a deep and complex woman’s reflection on religious radicalization in Bosnia.
For Those Who Can Tell No Tales (2013) was made in cooperation with the Australian actress Kym Vercoe, presented in Toronto and conferred with the Femme de Cinema award at the Les Arcs festival; in this film the Director resumes and deepens her reflections about war and the role of memory and storytelling.
Love Island (2014), presented at the Locarno Film Festival, is a warm and colorful comedy starring a young couple who find themselves chasing the same woman. Her latest film, the documentary One Day in Sarajevo (Jedan dan u Sarajevu, 2015) is a patchwork of footage by various people about the 100th anniversary of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo, and confirms the talent of Jasmila Žbanić, as one of the most innovative and outstanding Balkanic filmmakers.
All her films are produced by Deblokada, a company founded by Žbanić herself.
