Meeting with Roberto Catani in Brescia

Meeting with the animator Roberto Catani, guest of 2020 Bergamo Film Meeting’s Kino Club section.
The director will present some of his works, analysing their genesis and their productions’ steps, styles and techniques.
Roberto Catani
Born in Jesi the 12th of March, 1965. He graduate in 1986 at the Istituto Statale d’Arte “Scuola del libro” of Urbino and from 1988 to 1917 he’s the Animated drawing teacher at the same school. From 2017 he teaches at Mengaroni Art High School in Pesaro.
In 2001 he makes the illustration for the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and the Siena Short Film Festival.
His animation shorts La sagra (1998) and La funambola (2002) received the most important awards in Italy and abroad: Espinho, New York, Zagabria, Annecy ’00, Hiroshima ’02, Nastro d’argento in 2003, a nomination in 2002 for the Cartoon d’Or.
With his work he participate to some important events such as 100 years of animation cinema in Pesaro, Art and Animation at GAM in Torino and Open roads: new italian cinema at Lincoln Center of New York.
He exhibits his drawings and his movies in Trento, Rome, Annecy, London, Berlin, Lille and Treviso.
La testa tra le nuvole (2013), his second last animated short, is selected at the most important international festivals and receive the most important awards: Gran jury prize at ANIMATEKA (Lubiana), Special mention of the jury at Annecy, Best animation film at EuganeaFilmFestival (2015) and Special mention of the jury at IAFF KROK (Ucraina 2015).
Per tutta la vita is his last short, Grand Prix award at Sommet du Cinema d’Animation of Montreal.
