Masterclass with Izabela Plucińska

As part of BFM 39’s tribute to Izabela Plucińska, whose complete retrospective will be available from the 24th of April to the 2nd of May, the Polish director will hold a Masterclass on Sunday, the 25th of April from 3PM with free admission, registration is mandatory.

During the masterclass, Izabela Plucińska will illustrate claymation, a peculiar cinematographic technique that animates plasticine in stop-motion. This is not the puppet animation, which involves the creation of three-dimensional characters; the animator, on the other hand, obtaines a result that is rather very close to the bas-relief, so much so that sometimes backgrounds and characters combine and merge. The director will also pay particular attention to the narratives of her films: often transposed from plays or novels, they bend in an incredible way to her style of animation.

The meeting, held in collaboration with Associazione Avisco, will be held in English with consecutive italian translation.

The Masterclass is adressed to enthusiasts, film students and young professionals working in the field of cinema and animation.
