In that way a great partnership starts. Léaud, who doesn’t imagine that he will embody the Nouvelle Vague, is always been a mocking person. The energy he releases, when he runs as a child, gives away to a gaze sometimes shy and constantly surprised, sometimes resolute and fabler. BFM 37 image captures Léaud-child (on the run in Quatre Cents Coups by F. Truffaut), Léaud seduced and seducing (together with Catherine Duport in Masculin Féminin by J-L. Godard) and Léaud maoist, assertive and revolutionary look (La Chinoise by J. Godard). The single images are multiplying (actually they develop) on the same level, leaking out a potentially never-ending cycle (that is never the same) of feelings and reactions, animated by a background concern which makes Léaud a complex and fragile character.
